Number The Stars taught me

Number The Stars taught me how strongly people are judged just by their culture. Meaning their religion, race and/or beliefs. I think that in such a modern society racism shouldn't exist but yet it continues to thrive in the hearts of many citizens. I think this book really shows how strongly people can be affect by racism and how wrong racism really is.

Dear Ms. Ricci , I learned

Dear Ms. Ricci , I learned about racism and prejudice in the book Number The Stars .The book was good. One thing that I learned was that the reason that the holocaust took place was because of prejudice and racism .

I learned from the book

I learned from the book Number The Stars that it is not important to look at a person from the inside but to look at a person from the outside.

We have learned many things

We have learned many things through Number The Stars. Here is what I learned: first, it is about racism to Jews which is really unfair. Second, it is full of information. Third, it gave us a chance to learn about history through someone our own age. Fourth, we learned about history and we wern't even in history. Lastly, we will make sure history won't repeat itself. That is what I learned from and about Number The Stars.

I learned about racism,

I learned about racism, prejudice, and the Holocaust. I learned that racism was a deadly trait and that some people where against religions, races, and color of skin or heritage. I've learned that this kind of treatment was horrifying and cruel. Therefore this is a sad kind of treatment.

5. last but not least,. whats antisemitism???
antisemitism is a hatred of jews and there was a lot of antisemistism in the holocaust
this is what i learned about racism

Number the Stars taught me

Number the Stars taught me how strongly people judge other people. I hate seeing prejudice in the world today. We discussed a lot of things but the most important and the parts that really stuck out where the video we watched when the kids of the one school took paperclips and put them in the cart that they stuck all the Jews in to transport them to the camps. Also the video where the survivor told her story of how she survived.

In Ms. Ricci's Literacy

In Ms. Ricci's Literacy class we are reading about a book called "Number The Stars." I learned manny things about racism and prejudice. I learned that racism is all over the world and that it is a very bad thing in our socitity. I think that the book was very interesting because if we learn about what happened in the past we can prevent it from happening again. I know that that is important because when bad things happened you know that you dont want to live though it again. I know that it is important so i learn manny different things things that happened in the past.

In Ms. Ricci's class, we

In Ms. Ricci's class, we have learned about prejudice, racism, and anti-semitism. These three words are all similar in deffinition, but have clearly different meanings to people. How could be be so cruel? They were prejudice on the religion. People can't help what they are born into. They can't help wheter their white or hispanic or black, you are just born that way. People are people, no one is better than anyone else. Who gave people the right to wipe out this whole race? It wasn't only based on religion, it was based on race, religion, handicapped, orr if you were gay. You can't help any of those things. You are just born that way. It just not right. All in all, I enjoyed being able to communicate and take in the knowledge that the other students had to say and what I had do say.

I learned a lot about racism

I learned a lot about racism and being prejudice in the book. I would never be racist because I would not wan't to be treated like the Jews in "Number the Stars".I also woild no want to be prejudice because it will cause problems with other people. In conclusion this is why I would not be rascit and prejudice.

I learned a lot about

I learned a lot about antisemitism and racism in the book Number the Stars. It really showed how Jews were treated durng the Holocaust. Also the movie we saw about one of the survivors of the Holocaust. She really went through hard labor in her concentration camp. This is a little bit of what I learned about the Holocaust

When we were goin over the

When we were goin over the book I was learning about the Holoucaust and how people were
put in to horrible consentration camps. We were learning about this event in history so
this wouldnt happen again. Since I learned about this historic event I have been thinking
about the pain and racism that the germans had against the jews. This was during World War
2 in the year of 1939 to 1945. These were some ideas that i learned from this book.

I learned alot about racism

I learned alot about racism and how it use to be also in the book number of the stars it showed how all the jewish people had to go through and in the movie the one suviver they showed how and what she had to go through and i thought it was really sad when the girl said it would only be a few months and the other girl said no and they made a bet and who ever one the other person would have to get them a bucket of stawberries and creeme but the other girl was right it lasterd lond but she died

In Ms.Ricci's class we read

In Ms.Ricci's class we read the book Number The Stars. Ever since I read that book I looked at World War II and the world in a different way. I now know more then ever how hard it was to be a jew in World War II when everyone was looking to take you away and kill you. I learned that you couldn't trust anyone because you never know when someone might turn you in to the Nazi's. Also I understand how people have cold hearts but now more then ever i know how a cold heart could turn into something horriable.

Number the Stars was a book

Number the Stars was a book based on the Holocaust and World War II. The theme in this book was anti-semitism, meaning hatred of Jews. Jews were put in concentration camps where they were beaten, put in ovens, poisened, experimented on, and shot to death. This was wrong, racism is still a big issue today. I hope this will never happen again.

I learned many things by

I learned many things by reading "Number The Stars" by Lois Lowry. Obviously, the most important thing I learned about was about the Holocaust. Before reading this book and discussing it I didn't really understand this topic so much. Now when someone asks me what the Holocaust is, I can tell them! Another thing I got from this book was how heroic people can be. Risking your life for someone takes alot of courage and it made the book interesting for me. Lastly, I enjoyed the friendship part of this book. The reason I enjoyed this part so much was because it was easy for me to relate to. In school I have alot of really close friends. In conclusion, this is all the things I liked, and could relate to, in "Number The Stars" by Lois Lowry.

From reading Number The

From reading Number The Stars, I've learned that friends stick up for other friends, even if they are different. During school now, I try to be friends with more people and participate with people I haven't before. Of course, i still spend time with my old friends. Old friends are jsut as important as new ones! In Number The Stars, Annamarie took Ellen into her home to protect her. I've helped my friends from bully problems and home problems. This book has changed my perspective about my friends.

"Number The Stars " by

"Number The Stars " by Lois Lowry, is a great book. It taught me a lot of things, one example is that i realized how hard thier lives were. Now i look at our lives and see how lucky we are. People back then were so prejudice, but now everyone is so nice. This book was just amazing because there was so much detail. So, when I read this book I understood everything that happened. In conclusion, this book taught of me a lot of things.

My reaction to Number the

My reaction to Number the Stars by Lois Lowry was very..mixed up. Umm,really I knew that Hitler was mean and unfair to people but I didn't know that he would pull little girls' hair, and kill little babies. How do you do that to a person? But it's nice to know that they are some good,kind-hearted,non-racist people in this world that we live in today. Number the Stars ( I think personally) should be a wake up call to Middle School students because some kids are mean auch as bullies. Some students don't belive there's still racism going on and I hope they read the book and paid attention in class and now know that there is still racism in this world today; yes I agree it's sad but that's the way it is.

I learned many things from

I learned many things from the book 'Number The Stars'. I learned that the holocaoust was a hard time for jewish people. The nazi dictator was a cruel and evil person; who discriminated against many people. Nazi soilders were perjudice against jews and other non aryn people. They closed down a women's button shop because she was jewish. Those were the things I learned from this great novel.

What I learned about

What I learned about Number the Stars.Number the stars was a great book because we learned how people were treated. I can't believe people would do things like that like killing jews. I feel really bad for the jews and what they been through. Hitler was the bad guy behinde this he killed the jews and they didn't do anything to he that evil person.Thats what I learned in number the stars.

Number The Stars has taught

Number The Stars has taught me lot of things. It taught me how Jews has suffered through the Halocaust. I have also learned about prejudice and racism. It shows me that by reading this book I can prevent it from ever happening it again. If everyone learns about racism people can prevent it and make peace around the world. It made me feel bad about the poeple who suffered through the Halocaust. Also, it makes me think how some people are cruel and even think about racism. It was also very nervewracking reading the book because I didn't know what was going to happen and how the people can even go through this horrible thing. Still, there is a lot of prejudice and racism going on in this world today. By making some peace in the world, we can actually stop prejudice or racism. Number The Stars has taught me a lot of things and is a great book to read.

I learned alot of things by

I learned alot of things by reading the boook.I learned that people should help each other instead of hurt each other.Friends should always stick together and be nice. That Nazis were cruel and racicst. We all shouldn't be racist.Hitler was really prejudice and racicst. In the book they closed a button shop down just because the owner was jewish.

In the novel Number The

In the novel Number The Stars i learned alot of things. The first thing i learned was that during the holocust the nazi soldiers would take the jews and will slave them until they starve and die. Also i learned that friends and familys will get spread apart. When i first read the book i thought oh my god how could this happen i mean this is terrible. I kept reading on and it got better and better but then it got suspencefull. Then i wanted to know what would happen. Just like at the end of the story i wanted to know what would happen. I want Lois Lowry to make a second book like that so i can read it to see what happened or what happenes.

The holocaust was a mean

The holocaust was a mean period of time. When we learned about racsim I learned that we should teach people the same because, we are all the same.People think that just beacause you are a differnt color or religon you cant be freinds. That is very wrong. While I was learning about anti-semitsim I learned that germans where mean people. Aslo adolph hitler was a man who hated jews because they werent the same as him in religon.

I learned a

I learned a lot about "Number The Stars ". It eas really sad, suspensful and exciting. We talked about what happened in the book like the holcasts. The holcasts were really hurtful. We also learn how the Nazis use to capture the jewish people and made them work for years. The nazis were terrified becase the jewish people already knew that the Nazis were caming for them.I really hope you read this book becase you can make a differnce. If one day you make a differnce you can make a book like " Number The Stars ".

I have learned many things

I have learned many things from reading The Number the Stars. I have learned that no matter what race you are everyone is the same no matter what. Also, I've learned that friends protect and make sacrifices for one another. If you make new friends you don't ignore your old ones. You should treat them all the same.  In the book Annemarie's family protects Ellen, knowing if they got caught the Nazis would slaughter their whole family. That's what I've learned from the book The Number of the Stars.

I enjoyed reading Number the

I enjoyed reading Number the Stars.  We learned about a lot of things that happend in the past.  We talked about things like racism, prejudice, the Holocaust, and anti-semitism and all the other stuff that falls under that category. For me, I really enjoyed reading this book . It taught me a bunch of life long things that happend in the past and that may happen again but by knowing this now our society can prevent this from happeing again.

Number the stars showed me

Number the stars showed me how terrible and frightening those times were being that age. Risking your life to save someone else's. That is true heroism! They do so much for what they beleive in. I know this has definelty changed lives and schools and how people think about eachother. It has surely changed my own. I realised that not everything was great and friendly. I know that by reading about the past it will help prevent it in the future. A safer, better, and less hate fulled future. It will be wonderful!

Number the Stars is a

Number the Stars is a historical fiction book about the Holocaust. In this book there is predudice, racism, and anti-semitism. This book is about two families who are very close to each other. The problem is one family is Christian and the other is Jewish! The nazis are out to get the rosens, they are the Jewish family. The other family , the Johansons, hide Ellen, the Rosens one and only daughter, and pretend she is the Johansons daughter who died. Peter, their eldest daughter's fiance, hides the Ellen's parents and make it to Sweden to freedom. I insist you read this book because it is the best book I have ever read!

This book was exciting and

This book was exciting and suspenseful. I enjoyed learning about what the Jews went through, and about how their friends helped them so that they could be free. But I learned how being hateful to a group of people because of their religion or anything else is racism. And that is all over and we should try not to be racist.

Number the Stars 10-18-07

Have you ever read "Number the Stars" by Louis Lowry? All I have to say is Wow! what a great book. This book taught me about the holocaust, racism and how it effects the world. It also taught me that if we learn about events in the past, we can prevent them from happening in the future. My favorite part of the book was when Annmarie had to deliever the "package." This scene had suspense jumping from each page. The one thing I disliked about the novel was it didn't show what would have happened to the Johansons if they were to be caught. That would have gave the book a little more "umph." Lowry writes like no other author I know. She gives vivid details and has great, strong characters. I would definetly sugguest this novel to a reader who enjoys historical fiction books.

Number the Stars by Lois

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry was a great learning book. It taught me stuff about the Holocaust and how cruel they ( the Germans) were to the Jews. They starved them to death. They were mean to them. If they were sick they just killed them, and if they had mental illness they killed them. Hitler thought you were less of a human if you were gay or had mental illness thats why he killed them.

10/18/07

Number the Stars was a really good book to read. It taught me so much about the past. It gave us a chance to learn about racism, anti-semitism, prejudice, and cruelty. We also learned about how people can be brave and loving at the hardest times in life. There were many great scenes in the book. A lot of suspence is built in just about every chapter. There were some few things i didn't really enjoy about the book. I had many questions left to find out about. From reading this book, I learned a lot about myself. I know that from now on I will never look at someone and judge them without knowing them. Many times people will judge each other only by the way they look. It is something that everyone does not realizing how much they could be hurting the person. Reading this book can change people's thoughts and ideas about life. I definitely recomend this book for children to read. If we can all learn to be kind, and treat each otehr equally, we can make the world a better place.

Number the Stars is a

Number the Stars is a wonderful book that I read. This book tought me that the Holocaust was a very serious time for all Jewish people. When I read this book I started to think, "What if this was me in the Holocoust?" After I read this book I was began to feel sorry for those people that died. I already felt sorry for them during the book. I also felt sorry for the people that have lost their loved ones in the Holocaust. I am sure that those people that have died are more peaceful now in Heaven.

Number the Stars by Lois

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry is about the Holocaust it was a very sad story. But it inspired me to tell people not to try to do anything like that. About the Nazi's not respecting any of the Jewish people where treated horrible.

I learned lots of things

I learned lots of things from reading the novel, Number the Stars by Lowis Lowry. I learned about the Holocaust, racism, and different forms ot racism. Also I learned about World War 2. Number the stars is agreat book about annemarrie, and her jewish freind, Ellen who they are trying to save from the nazi soldiers. Therefore that is what i learned from reading the book Number the Stars.

Number The Stars by Lowis

Number The Stars by Lowis Lowry was a informantive book about the Holocaust. ALso, it is telling how the Nazi were so racist against the Jews. This is a good book so something like this doesn't ever happen again.

When I read NUMBER THE STARS

When I read NUMBER THE STARS I learned a lot of things. It is about the HOLOCAUST and WORLD WAR 2. It is also about the killing of Jews and the leader of the NAZI soldiers Adolph Hitler. It is also about racism and anger, lust for power. I learned that the Nazis should not be so aggressive to people like the Jews and I learned what anger and racism really is.

Dear Ms. Ricci, Number

Dear Ms. Ricci,

Number the Stars was a great book. It taught me that you shouldn't judge someone by their race or color. Also, showed that racism is really hurting the lives of people and should be stopped. Knowing that people are being treated that way shows that we really need to stop racism and try to make people understand that everyone is equal. Furthermore, in the book it showed how important friendship and trust was. Knowing that Ellen had to trust Annemarie and hope her that she was going to be safe. Therefore, reading Number the Stars was a great experience.

I learned many things from

I learned many things from Number the Stars by Lowis Lowry. I've learned that even in hard times a friend is always there to help. I have also learned that many people even today are racist. It's so sad that even today in 2007 peolpe think that we are not all equal. Just like Ms. Ricci says "People are like M&M's, We may look different on the outside but inside we are all the same." Another thing i've learned is that courgae conqueres all.

Number the Stars by Louis Lowry is a great book. I liked the fact that it taught me about anti-semitism. The book showed a lot of bravery. so in conclusion i really liked this book.

I have learned many many

I have learned many many things about Number The Stars. Number The Stars is written by Lois Lowry. This story is aboout the Holocaust. Number the stars is a very suspencful story, witch you would enjoy reading. Then story is token place in Denmark. When I was reading Number The Stars , the beginning of the story got me really scared because it started out wtih the nazis standing at the corners and the Ellen, and Annamarie run into them. After the nazis are cheaking then. But , out of all i learned a lot about racism. You shouldn't judge anyone by the religon ( if they are Jews, Indians or anything.) Judge by what they bring to the table. I hope you had fun reading the story too.
