Practical Writing and Special English

My Special English classes will learn several new vocabulary words each week, consisting of TAKS vocabulary and words specific to the novel or short story we are reading.  We will also use the newspaper for reading activities, Real World Writing, Real World Reading, and Grammar.  Students will also respond to a writing prompt each day as they enter the classroom.  We will also continue Basic Writing Skills, Paragraph Writing and the Janet Shaffer Writing Curriculum.  If there is a film version of the novel or short story we are reading, we will also watch the film to compare content, etc.
