Surveillance Systems
Surveillance systems.
San Diego Union-Tribune Newspaper, March 29, 2009, has an article on a huge electronic spying network. Canadian researchers have concluded that hundreds of government and private offices around the world have been having documents stolen off their computers. They have called this computer espionage “GhostNet”. The spyware can turn on the camera and audio-recording functions of in infected computer, enabling monitors to see and hear what goes on in a room. This operation is still going strong and continues to invade and monitor more than a dozen new computers a week. “Intelligence analysts say many governments, including those of China, Russia and the United States, and other parties use sophisticated computer programs to covertly gather information.
In what way is this a benefical and a negative operation? Give details explaining your opinion in both of these areas. Do some research to give examples of other types of surveillance systems and how these are beneficial and harmful.
The New Invasion of Private Lives
There is only one way that this kind of surveillance would ever be effective, if it were used for counter terrorism. But the idea that someone is turning on computers just to play voyeur with other people's lives is just twisted and mind-boggling. Most people feel safe when they are in the comfort of their own home, but because of this virus now people may not even feel home at their own home. So as much as people say that surveillance may be necessary I think it should only be used as an outside counter terrorist source, not turned against our own citizens out of paranoia or a sick voyeurism.

The Better Camera
Surveillance has, from the beginning, been a contraversial topic in the Unites States. Our Consitution speaks about the right to privacy but how far is too far when, for the sake of protection, surveillance is required?
The pros to cameras of course are plentiful. They intimidate people that are up to no good and, as a result, crime goes down. This by itself makes cameras a great piece of technology.
But cons are also great in number. People do not enjoy being watched. Privacy in such heavily populated areas is much desired and it scares people to think that the majority of the time one is outside the safety of their own home, someone or something is watching them.
I, personally, agree with all those cameras as long as they are out in public, not the privacy of my own home. I dont plan to do anything illegal but many people out there are and I want them to be captured before they cause any harm.
Besides, I doubt the abundance of cameras in pulic places will dwindle but rather grow in both quality and quantity.
The nano stretchable silicon camera has been developed and it imitates the human eye, making cameras see better and therefore are more efficient in fulfilling their purpose.

Cameras
I think that serveillance cameras are a good idea for just about anything. I think the best use for them is to ensure safety for people. To me, crime and safety fall hand in hand when working with surveillance. Cameras can be used to identify when someone is comitting crime which in turn provides a more safe environment for other people becuase that specific person is dealt with by the police. The fallowing link is an example of a nanny camera (hidden) that shows a middle aged women abusing a 5 month old baby. The camera saved the child from further abuse.

There are many pros and
There are many pros and cons towards having surviellance systems. The first thing to come to mind is that it it negative because it is an invasion of privacy. But, if you think about it, during the age of 2009, most people are being video taped as soon as they leave their house. Cameras have become a fundamental part of society. The positive point towards having surrviellance systems are that it stops violence and vandalism in our communities. For instance if their weren't any cameras in stores, people would not even think twice about it and people would begin to steal. Without Cameras, there would be an increase of violence.
Although there are many pros towards having surveillance cameras there are also many cons. Imagine being in the comfort of your own room, changing your clothes, to find out that someone is watching you that very minute, thousands of miles away on your web cam. This is one of the worst case senerios, but it could happen.People should not have to think twice about having a computer in their home. Everyone has the right to privacy.... Don't they?

Ghost Net
The ghost net has a lot of benefits but also has many negative consequences. If this operation was in our government computers a beneficial out come I would be that it can detect frauds in our government. For instant, it would be possible to over hear a conversation between government officials planning to assassinate the president. Unfortunately a negative about this operation is that another country would be able tap into our government confidential conversations, which would lead onto a national security threat. And those are some ways how this operation would affect us.

Now a days in the city of Chicago there has been an increased of crimes reports. So the police decided to try anthor method to catch crimals. They have now put hidden Surveillance cameras on the streets, at nights on top of building and store fronts, hoping to catch these crimals in the act. But so far even with this device They're still the most highest crime parts of Chicago. I think this is a wrong way to catch a crimal.

surveillance systems
I think surveillance systems are very effective in the finding of criminals or kidnapped victims, and most importantly the safety of U.S. citizens all around the country. I dont mind it to an extent, but when it gets to the point where I'm being watched 24/7 in my home and I have absolutely no privacy then its a problem. Other than that I have no problem with being watched while I'm and about, because I know that if something were to ever happen to me it would all be captured on tape and justice will be brought.

This is more negative than
This is more negative than beneficial, other counteries that are enemies with the US could hack into our govenrnment internet systems and steal private information. However we would also be able to do that to other counteries so it's sort of a catch-22. Surveillance that is going on right now is the government listening into any phone conversation they want to. It's harmful because it takes away privacy rights of Americans and it's beneficial because it allows the government to track terrorists.

Surveillance Systems
I feel that surveillance systems are necessary to keep our world safe. However, if they are hidden or secretly being watched I feel that has crossed the line. At a school or in stores, they have reasons to be watching what you are doing, to be sure no foul play is taking place, but I feel surveillance systems are not needed in areas like streets and stop signs, the government has slowly grown to a figure of power where they can listen and watch what ever we do. Next they'll know what we are thinking, and we'll be arrested for thoughtcrimes! Unless the area is proving to be a problem, I do not think a camera is necessary. but I can see the advantages to having them in department stores and supermarkets. If these systems are used in moderation and appropriately, everything will end up good in the end. :]

Surveillance
Pros and Cons Pros on Surveillance Cameras They can provide evidence that can no t be obtain in any other way, it acts as a crime deterrent, and it stills a sense of security fro both parents and students. With this kind of monitoring, school officials have access to detailed evidence of any suspicious or criminal activity. Acts of violence or vandalism may be reduced because students are aware that their school is being monitered and they don't want to get in trouble. In case of something bad being done, everything can be caught on tape and emergency officials can be notified and they can have helpful evidence. Cons on Surveillance Cameras Set up and maintenance costs can be too prohibited and invasion of privacy rights may be pose legal liability. There is a definate cost involved to purchasing, installing and monitoring surveillance cameras. Any risks of potential legal concerns your school could face by installing surveillance equipment. I think school surveillance
I think school surveillance cameras can be beneficial, but also has some negative side effects. Obviously the cameras are good for catching things that shouldn't be going on in school, and can be used to solve problems by going back and watching tapes regarding a school problem. The real question is if we as students have the right to privacy. Is putting cameras in school going too far(violating privacy)? I think it is, those measurements seem too extreme for public schools, and I think the topic is very controversial and should be discussed between school board members, students, and students parents.

Surveillance in City Heights
Surveillance could be a good thing even though people can watch you every move they can also keep you safe from harm by doing so. An example of this is in City Heights San Diego, Police are installing cameras at a park in City Heights to reduce crime. These cameras will watch people all around the park but it will make the community safer. If you have problems with people watching you on camera you shouldn't be doing illegal things, innocent people should not have a problem with this because it will make them more safe.

survelliance system
I believe that survelliance systems both have postive and negative outcomes. Its good to have survelliance cameras because people can watch what happens in there house during the time their not there. Also in a way its good for police officers, government or other higher people to watch the bad people such as rappist, burgulars and etc. Theirs also some negative outcomes such as invading your privacy. Being watched in your own home when not wanting to be watched is bad because innocent people are being watched. Pesonally I wouldn't want to be watched while I'm at home theirs certain limits the governemt can have and invading your privacy is one he shouldn't have.http://homesecuritysurveillanceguide.com/2008/10/08/pros-and-cons-of-home-security-surveillance/

I can’t image that how our lives could be with all the hiding cameras around us every day. But that is the truth in the contemporary society, and also necessary because it can catch all kinds of crimes which threaten us. It is for our own security. But the fact is that some people have the ability to crack all the protection and get control over these hiding cameras and turns them working for his own purpose. So these people sometimes invaded our privacies, and it is illegal. But compare to the good points of the hiding cameras, I still think it is necessary to use the camera to monitor people at the important public places such as bank, school, market, shopping mall, etc.

With these cameras and being able to look into our computers and us, I think that would be benificial beacuse if there is ever a time when the governmnet or the police need to find someone or get some information they will be able to get it at their own convinance. But I also believe that it is unbenificial because that it invasion of our privacy. that would be agaisnt our right. and I think that it would not be any different when the police needing a search warrent, becuase if you think about it, they are looking into our house, not just at us, and that they are searching through our stuff. That is not right for them to do, as it is not right for us to do the same to them.

Surveillance cameras can be
Surveillance cameras can be helpful but can also be an invasion of one’s privacy. There are people and businesses that use cameras to help against crime, however, sometimes that power can be abused. There have been problems of criminals hijacking cameras to spy on other people. Privacy is a right that all people should have, on their own private property. In a public place security cameras are there to watch out for us and to help the police enforce the laws. There are surveillance systems that help watch over human’s right in other countries.

Having surveliance in
Having surveliance in one's home can result in both negative and positive outcomes.A positive result is that other countries can understand the raw and real truths about how other people act in an average day. This would help people learn different cultural perspectives on each other's daily lives. It could also keep people from doing anything illegal.More information can be found on this link:
http://www.notbored.org/state-press.html
This finding can also take a wrong tole towards society. This could eventually be seen as an invasion of privacy. If people are allowed to spy on you at any time of day, this an invasion of one's constsituional standards. It would make me feel uncomfortable knowing that I may think I am in private place, to find out that someone is spying on me on my own laptop.

I think surveillance has its both pro's and con's like anything else that is used or controlled by humans. One of the major con's of using surveillance is by the Chinese called the Golden shield project as referred as the Great Firewall of China. This project purpose was monitoring and controlling the web life, basically causing email disruption or blocking websites. This was all operated by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China. The reason that I think that this is a con, is because the people of china don't have the freedom to surf the internet world without being so closely watch. I know that this project started in 1998 but im not sure if this continues. So can one of you chinese students tell me if it does still or has been stopped?

Highly Negative
In my opinion, I think that there are not as much positives about this than negatives. Alot of the negatives are that your privacy is taken away, so don't think about doing anything you wouldn't want people to see. Its just really creepy that people can see you, as well as hear you. You cant see them, and probably don't even know they're watching your! The only positive thing about it, is that if something happened. Like as if someone came and robbed you, in front of your computer. Such a odd thing, but it can happen. Other than that, theres nothing else thats positive about it.

I think that watching people
I think that watching people from their own computer can be beneficial depending on who is using it. If the government is behind it they can get into bad people's computers and spy on potential terrorists and can prevent more crimes. Having this capability can also be a bad thing if the wrong types of people are using it. They would probably use it just to spy on people and just be nosy which would be a creepy.
I found that surveillance cameras don't do much about protecting crimes on the spot. They are more effective when it comes to going back to see what happened. Since the public cameras record what goes on, if someone wants to try and find out what happened in a recent crime, the recording can be a useful tool to help solve what happened. There are also surveillance cameras in the UK that have speakers attached to them. The point of these speakers is to speak out of them to get you to stop doing something they don't want you to do like graffiti or littering. Another thing I heard about was the government trying to be in charge of homeowner’s heaters and air conditioners. If you are wasting energy they would turn it down and you wouldn't have any control over it. This plan was later rejected because people were saying it was to "orwellian".

I think its come to the point that anyone can track anyone through any means so its no surprise that i can know where someone is by using gps through a cell phone. In the website i can now track someone by knowing their cell phone though even it creates protection it also invades privacy and can be used to track anyone in an unfair way.

phone tapping is one way
phone tapping is one way the American government expresses their power. They use this as a method to catch criminals and terrorist. This is justified by saying that the government agencies need a court order and proof showing that they can't catch the suspect any other way. this was before 9/11, now government agencies such as NSA can tap anyone that is calling out of the United States. I agree with tapping with probable cause how ever phone tapping someone that is calling out of the U.S. is ridiculous. For instance it is legal for some guy sitting at his desk in the NSA's twelfth floor eating his lunch to listen in on a woman talking to her boyfriend who is in Italy for a business conference. Without laws protecting people from situations like this we all are at risk for this type of invasion of privacy. So answering the question, No I don't agree with this or any breach in personal privacy that is not warranted.
Surveillance Systems
I think that the creators of GhostNet had the right idea to create spyware. It is appropriate that it would only be placed in the infected computors, if it was in all the computers I think it would be wrong and too extreme. A positive of GhostNet is that it will prevent important and secret documents from getting into the hands of the wrong people. It could save the company a lot of money and trouble. A negative is that cameras can invade people's privacy. Many are not comfortable being video taped or recorded and feel that it takes away one of their rights. I think that if you are not guilty of doing something wrong then you should not have a problem with being recorded. You have nothing to hide.
Another instance when putting surveillance cameras in place was when a Texas school district put cameras inside their buses. This helped keep the bus environment safer because previous to the installation of these cameras, there were problems with fights and other activities inside the bus. However, some students claim that this goes against their right to privacy.

Surveillance
The ACLU's San Diego and Imperial County branch has posted an article about the growing surveillance network in San Diego. "[The City] is moving quickly to install video surveillance cameras on public streets and plazas without regulations, with little or no public debate, and without accountability or oversight." The most troubling part of the report is about the fact that these new cameras can be combined with other emerging technologies such as "radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, face and eye scans, and identification software..." which may lead to a complex government surveillance infrastructure like the one in 1984.
This information is somewhat unsettling, when you consider the great advances in technology in recent years. With gps tracking and cell phones and the NSA wiretapping issues, it's not a great stretch of the imagination to picture how our world could become like the one in 1984.
I think there should be a considerable amount of regulation on surveillance systems in our country.

Surveillance
Surveillance cameras can be both good and bad, but I believe they are more useful than they are harmful. Thanks to surveillance cameras, places can be monitored and later on reviewed to see if anything out of the ordinary happened. For example, if a place is robbed, thanks to surveillance cameras the police can look back and see how the robbery happened. The only negative of surveillance cameras is that people can use them to invade the privacy of others, which is disturbing. No one would want their privacy invaded. Despite this, I still believe that the positives to surveillance outweigh the negatives.

In our generation
In our generation surveillance systems have became a very common thing in our everyday lives. It seems that every where we go there is some form of surveillance that is around that could possible be watching you, but the question that comes to everyone’s minds is this to much. My personal option is that the surveillances is for our own safety, but I do know that many people feel that having surveillances everywhere is too intruding in our privacy. One of the most heavily shriveled places in America is Statue of Liberty, but there is something different about the surveillance at the Statue of Liberty. Most surveillance system are watched by people, but with our new technology we have made it possible to have machine to take the place of people and that is exactly what they did at the Statue of Liberty. These machines look for thing that seem to be alarming, from somebody abandons a bag or backpack to knowing which ferryboats are aloud in. Most of the people that were told about this system thought that its very important to have this, but many people bring up the thought that no one knows just how much they are watching you. I feel it better to be safe than sorry.

Pros and Cons Surveillance system
Surveillance systems have both a negative and positive side to them. After doing some research I found that there are pros and cons to school security cameras. The positive side is that security cameras, provide officals with evidence that would have not been available otherwise. The cameras also instill a sense of security for both parents and students. The negative side to school security cameras is the cost. Having the cameras may also pose legal liabilty for invasion of privacy rights. I feel that the surveillance cameras are great equipment that have more positive aspect rather than negative.

Surveillance systems
I believe that surveillance is mainly a negative aspect of today’s cyber world. People have found ways to hack into computers and take private information with the push of a button. These hackers can find valuable information and even steal your identity. Especially with new gadgets coming out every year, hackers are finding more ways to spy on us. New monitor video cameras are being hacked for people to view the personal life of many non-expecting victims. The world is becoming harder and harder to live a private life. We are being watched!!!
Spy cameras can also be used in a good way. Security cameras are vital for today’s world. They prevent crime and help save money for many business owners without the hassle of having more security guards.
Even more impressive security cameras are now even being used as spies in the world of combat. A fairly inexpensive man-less spy plane has been developed to view enemies far above the ground, without a risk of being shot down, and even if it was, nobody would be harmed in the crash. The Global Hawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is designed to satisfy a broad area coverage and deep target surveillance for enemies. The global hawk uses high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) to spy. These methods are high tech yet very effective. They provide information without the risk of getting people killed. Here are links describing it: http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2001/09/47082#

I think that surveillance
I think that surveillance can be a good thing, for example how they have cameras at the beach so that you can look at the waves and weather conditions and decide if you really want to go or not. It can also be helpful in large stores to stop people from stealing. Surveillance can also be a bad thing too, for example this computer virus that is goin around, people who you dont want to monitor you can and there isnt much you can do about it.

I think the surveillance
I think the surveillance such like hidden camera has both positive and negative outcomes. But I think the positive effect is more than negative effects. The most hiding camera were used to record or monitor the important public places such as bank, school, supermarket, and the propose of the hiding camera is to find and catch all kinds of crimes on time and give out the evidence. But some hackers can control these cameras and make them work for his own propose such like peeped some else, but that is only a small group of people, the positive side is still more important than the negative side.

Surveillance in Workplace
Surveillance software can be beneficial if it is used for a good purpose. For example, I found an article called "Does Big Brother Software Treat Staff Like Kids?." It is about employers checking on their employees' monitors to see what they are doing during work. This is beneficial for the employers because they can keep the workers on track. The employers could have a harder working business which means more money for them. It can also be negative because the employees have no privacy. The employer can be looking at their personal information. They can see whatever they read and write. Source: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2004/03/08/363662/index.htm

Surveillance Sytems in the U.S.
I think that the type of surveillance described by the newspaper article is the wrong and negative kind. They are going into people's private property without reason or permission, and stealing files or doing whatever else that they shouldn't be. If the Patriot Act was ruled unconstitutional then this definitely is as well. It would be different if the person was out in public grocery shopping, but this is just snooping in someone's private life. Worst of all nobody really knows who is doing it. I mean people shouldn't be trying to hide things, but there should still be respect for privacy.
On that other hand, this type of surveillance could be good. Like what Manny said if it is to get information about potential Terrorist Plots or something that could save lives then it is good. An example of this is when the U.S. imposed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 1978 (http://www.cnss.org/surveillance.htm). This act gave the U.S. government authority to legally hack foreign officials private files, record their conversations and basically follow them move by move IF they were believed to be a possible threat to National Security. But one has to remember that this program would mean people would be spying on governments and suspected dangerous government officials, not innocent individuals in their private homes, which is apples to oranges in this matter. I think that overall (in most cases) surveillance is a good thing because in modern times with all the crime they are needed to keep people safe. For example I know people who's parents have some kind of job that requires them to keep expensive equipment in their vehicles, so they put camera in their driveways to watch them. Some people even have intercoms and cameras at their entryway, gates,or doorsteps (here are some available systems for sale: http://www.vigilanceandsecurity.com/) Overall I think that surveillance is more helpful than harmful in most cases.

Car Cameras
People would be able to get cameras for their cars to see who is going to steel their car or broke into it. This is a nice way to be able to keep an eye on your car when you're not with it. The camera can either be motion sensor or by just pressing down on the foot pedal. This is a nice thing because you get to keep an eye on your car but then this also isn't that beneficial. People could be getting into their own cars and the camera would turn on. The camera could just be turned off by the theif. This isn't really a good idea but it might work for some.

Servalience Systems
This is beneficial to the country using the program because they can listen to top secret meetings and listen for that conutry's plans. Also that is bad for the country being spied on because their top secret information is being heard by another country. All banks have security cameras which are connected in a network to the police. This can help police find thiefs that rob a bank. This is also harmful because is someone hacks the cameras they can control them and make it seem like nothing happens or erase footage.

Surveillance
I think that surveillance has come to a point where you are constantly being watched, even when you don't know you are. There is a kind of software that enables you to get into anyone else's cellphone, listen to their conversations, even read their text messages. This can be beneficial for parents in order for them to know what their children are doing. Also, if someone is suspecting their partner is cheating on them, then having this software can help them know for sure. This can be very negative as well because this is a major invasion of privacy, and it shows how little you trust the person you would be using this software on. Below is a link showing information on this software.

I believe this surveillance
I believe this surveillance camera stuff shouldn't be permitted at all. People need their personal space and by allowing the government to take over peoples computer can cause many problems. I believe this could be beneficial in a way of helping the government find corrupt people but in the other hand I believe this is very disrespectful to people because they are invading the privacy of innocents when they are not doing anything wrong. There are many types of surveillance cameras all over the place such as the ones in school, parks, beaches and other public places. There are also the types of cameras found in the department stores, this is to make sure of who, what, where, when, and how they did it. (surveillance-video.com)

Surveillance systems and cameras has widely grown since the terrorist attack in 9/11. Since the attack more cameras have been put out in hopes to catch any suspicious activity. Surveillance systems have
Surveillance systems have become an everyday use in todays society and can be found almost anywhere. They are even used in inappropriate situations and where they are not needed. They are usually to help us or serve a significant purpose where they are installed but it is in few unnecessary places that they become dangerous. I have friends that all work at the same Subway Sandwich shop. This is just an ordinary place but the owner of this particular location had cameras installed all around the restaurant in order to monitor his employees, There is really no need for this in the first place but there is a catch, the cameras record live footage to his home so he can see and hear everything that goes on from his house. This is an abuse of surveillance systems and is in no way needed for him to effectively run a sandwich store. I think they should only be put in where it is important to have them, not just anywhere people please. It has become a major invasion of privacy and just flat out creepy. In this case, it is a very negative operation.

In the article it states how monitors are able to hear and see what is going on in a room by spyware. This has both negative and positive effects. Starting with the negative people are suppose to feel safe and protected. With cameras hearing people conversations and seeing what they're doing, It kind of makes someone feel like you are invading their privacy. A positive is that you can catch many people doing things that they aren't suppose to do or even say.
Live surveillance cameras are used at traffic light intersections. In Virginia these cameras has reduced the number of crashes at red light intersections. In 2002 California studied that accidents caused by people passing red lights has also been reduced. I think by having these cameras people will less likely to do anything illegal while driving.

Surveillance in California
Surveillance in California is becoming used more and more. Nobody is protesting and there have been no public debates on this subject of installing cameras on public streets. According to the American Civil Liberties Union there are no regulations as to where they are placed and whether or not they are effective. Maya Harris of ACLU say, "This trend, along with rising homicide rates and aggressive marketing by security companies, has led many cities to approve and install surveillance camera systems without guidelines to protect civil liberties and with little or no public debate. We strongly urge local governments to pause and consider whether this is the best way to make our cities safer."
This may be the best way to see what is going on within the city in the way of how to stop or prevent crime. They may also help catch people who have committed crimes. Yet people have become smart about it especially in stores, where many robbers will wear masks to hide who they are so that they don't get caught.
Yet, the cities have started placing cameras not only in stores for security reasons but also on the streets where normal everyday people walk and talk. This could be a threat to free speech and poses privacy issues. The American Civil Liberties Union conducted a study and found that surveillance systems have not reduced crime in city centers. Security cameras are taking away jobs from cops that could be hired and will probably be more effective then installing a camera who's effectiveness is not what the companies want people to believe.
With these security cameras there have also been reports of abuse. For example, a San Fransisco police officer was who faced disciplinary action because he was found using cameras to look at women in a sexual way at the airport.
These cameras provide no real security. It would be more effective to have more police officers, better lighting and community patrolling then to install cameras that have been proven to not be effective and cost tons of money to install.

Home Surveillance
More and more homes today are putting security surveillance cameras in and around their homes. There are benefits and hindrances to having surveillance cameras in the home though. Some benefits are that your home will have increased security against burglaries and robberies. Having cameras connected to the internet can allow you to monitor your house from a computer wherever you are. It is also relatively cheap to have a system installed. Some disadvantages are that computer glitches can disrupt the system, and the computer will need to be on constantly for the system to be monitored, wasting energy. An uninterrupted internet connection is required by most systems. If you are using home security surveillance then you will need to monitor the footage yourself, or get someone else to do it. This can be a very time consuming or expensive process. Home security can be disarmed very easily as there is no alarm system connected to a security center to alert a system failure. Also, improper installation may not provide effective security. I think Home Security Surveillance cameras are a waste of time, money, and our precious energy. If someone's house really has valuables they may want to invest in a system, but otherwise it is an unnecessary waste of our worlds energy.

Surveillance
The beneficial operation is it can see the accident happened in the room so that if something happens people will know. The negative operation is that it is violating people's privacy and it is not allowed. It is not accepted and people don't want to be watched in this illegal way. There are also many kinds of cameras are being used, one of them are traffic cameras. The benefit of them is they seem likely to help deter traffic violations. They can’t easily be misused for gathering other sorts of information or for suppressing dissent. They decrease the discretionary and sometimes oppressive power of police over motorists. The negaive operation is that there is a danger that local governments, which make money from traffic tickets, will use this cheap law enforcement device primarily to raise revenue without regard to whether it improves safety. Governments could, for instance, be tempted to make yellow lights shorter (perhaps unsafely short) or to set speed limits too low. This sort of moral hazard is always present whenever the government can financially profit from law enforcement.

Surveillance systems in
Surveillance systems in schools can very beneficial to keeping the schools clean and safe for students. Having surveillance cameras can be very beneficial to the schools because they can help to prevent drugs and alcohol use and vandalism of school property. Having surveillance cameras can also be very harmful to students because the students know that they are always being watched at every moment of the day and that can be very traumatizing for a student.

I think that surveillance
I think that surveillance are positive and negatives at time. Many schools have cameras to protect the property from crimes that can be harmful to the students and the teachers. The cameras are also used to prevent and or caught seniors prankers and students from ditching class. The negative about having cameras is that they are a lot to pay for the upkeeping. What if the videos are missed used? The school district can be in a lot of trouble with parents. Can schools put up cameras without having the students permission? I try to look it the question I just asked and didn't find anything you may know the answer please reply. I would like to know.

Surveillance systems:
Surveillance systems can be both a beneficial and negative operation. The negative aspect is that it is an invasion of privacy. Some people decide to hack people's computers, and to watch and listen to them through their web cams. This gives the hackers complete access to what people are doing in their private lives.
The positive aspect of it is that some cameras can be for surfers. They can go to websites such as http://www.surfline.com/home/index.cfm to look at how the weather and surf is. If the website says the waves are good, then surfers no to go out to the beach all because of these cameras. So cameras can be a positive and negative aspect.

I think that the
I think that the surveillance system can be both negative and positive at the same time. It can be used as a way to protect yourself but it can also be used as a way for people to spy on others privacy. Some people may use cameras to know what is happening in their community and to if it is safe. An example can be that a lot of people use Google Earth and they are able to see details of homes and many more things. Government can use it to look at what is happening in Iraq. There are other types of government that use Google Earth as a way to plan attacks on other countries.

Surveillance like music?!
I think that surveillance is a good idea but should pretty much have the same rules and laws as music. Music is only allowed to be listened to and downloaded by the private party who bought it. Music isn't allowed to put up for download. So you can have all your music downloaded on to your computer but it is only for private use. The minute you distribute your music to the masses or one other person it is then illegal. SO, just like music, surveillance should be the same. It should be for private use and not accessible to the masses or an outside party. Let us say that a grocery store had a surveillance system to watch its customers to tell if they they are stealing or committing illegal acts. The surveillance should be used for private use and not accessible by the masses so that you are not watched or being viewed by any random person. http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6570499.html
It could be used to figure
It could be used to figure out murder if the act was do in in front of the computer. It also could be a bad thing because the people controlling the program could use it to just invanede your privacy. Some camera footages can be used to black mail or use it against civilians in there normal life .

Surveillance systems give
Surveillance systems give people the people a feeling of security, but can also invade privacy. cell phones can now be tracked with G.P.S. systems, and call logs can be looked at by the government and anyone who works for the cell phone company you use. Its hard to draw the line where security becomes invasion of privacy.

Technology
Now in days technology is advancing so much. Next thing you know someday in the future, technology will rule our lives. After Mrs. Pauchnick read to the whole class of the article, I really do tend to be afraid like maybe the technology will get smarter than everyone and it will be able to have a mind of its own. I think that it's a negative thing to do, for the Governmant to hack into peoples computures and spy on whoever. Even now the Government are hackin into peoples phones. That's invading someones privacy, there personal space. I really don't agree, I know that there looking or listinng to peoples conversations for any suspicion of terrorist. Ever since 9/11 happened. But there must be another way. Because probably in the future the U.S will become afraid of technology. We will see what changes throughout the years.
