Literature Blog Reflection

Please write a reflection of your experience in being involved in this International Literature Blog. How has this experience been beneficial as compared to reading literature and discussing the themes in only a classroom setting?  Do you feel you have learned more and if so what have you learned? Do you think you will remember the books better than if you were not involved in this activity? Do you feel you learned more about technology in being part of an Internet discussion forum? Do you feel you learned more about people in other countries? Share anything else you feel is valuable.

I'm glad that it was a

I'm glad that it was a wonderful experince for me. I have learned a lot by what other countaries are like and how the people do thing differently. It's really good because instead of talking with your classmates, who kind of have the same ideas, you talk to a different person from another country and they tell you how they see it in a different way. It was amazing for me to talk with other students who might have the same idea as I do about that story or about our comments.

The Unexpected Learning Tool

Blogs have been in existance for the longest time now and this literature blog is one of the most amazing ones I have seen and, thankfully, had the opportunity to participate in. Through this blog I have learned the importance of cultural unification through different mediums. By using literature as a pivoting point, the most interesting points have come up in blog discussions. In "The Streetcar Named Desire" discussion board I was able to talk to students in Italy about abusive relationships and how they come to be. In short, this literature blog has helped me reconsider many ideas I had and because of that, has helped me become a better person. Thank you Mrs. Pauchnick!

Lit Blog

I thought that the literature blog was a good way to interact with other peoples cultures. It brought us together and we all shared a common interest and it was nice to see what people thought. I liked to see that alot of conversations were started by questions about books. I never thought that i would be using a computer and talking to people on the other side of the world. Technology is bring the world together. :)

reflection

I think that this activity was very beneficial, it helped me to understand the themes of the book better. Also it helped me see other people's viewson the book. I think thanks to this activity that I will remember the books better. This activity also helped me better understand how societies in other countries are and if they relate to ours at all.

Reflection

I am so glad I was able to have this experience. If I had simply read A Streetcar Named Desire, I would most likely have forgot about the book altogether within a few months. Communicating with peers from around the world has been fun and culturally enlightening.
Epals has made all the difference.

Reflection

In doing this international blog, I have learned that other countries around the world do things similar to us. We all read the same things but everyone has the own opinion about what they learn. It was nice to hear other peoples's thoughts and opinions about the books we have both read. I enjoyed doing this project because it gave us the ability to talk with people around the world and to hear their points of view.

I think this program helps

I think this program helps me understand the books better than just sitting in class and discussing it.This way will help me remember the books better because I will remember conversations I had with other students from different countries and also I will learn how different and similar countries are . Yazmin A. San Diego CA.

i thought that the different

i thought that the different opinions of people over seas was very important because although most of the responses were basically the same, the Italians and Japanese comments were very valuable and original. I feel as though with the kids responses i will most likely remember little tid-bits of information if the topic came up in a conversation. I also thought that the fact that the kids next door to us also have many of the same emenitys in the classroom with the rooms full of computers and highly educated teachers.

Reflection...

I found this literature blog very intriguing. It was really neat to be able to learn about other students' cultures and learn a little bit about them as individuals as well. It was a lot more interesting than it would have been sitting in our class talking about the book and answering questions. We got to talk to other people around the world while accomplishing the came thing. It was also fun because the teachers were very excited about it and when someone is that excited about something it gets you excited as well. I really enjoyed this lesson and I hope we have many more like it. Thank you everyone. :-D

Reflection

I really like having this blog available to me in my class rooms and at home. I like being able to talk to other people in other country's about books that I'm reading the United States. It is a surprise that other kids in the world are reading the same books that I am. I also enjoy what other people have to say about this book Death of a Salesman and collaborating with them about the book. I do feel like I have learned more about this book by talking to other people then just my class mates.I have also learned what other countries feel about the book Death of a Salesman. Cheyne hoke 3/12/09 p.3

reflection

I felt that this was an interactive learning experiance. I now know that people in other countries read the same material as americans. I think now that I have discussed these books I will have a better time remembering what happened in the stories. I thoght this was a good experiance and more classes should do it.

This international blog has

This international blog has been a great experience and it shows even though we might be in different countries we still read the same books and learn similar things. Its great to hear other students point of view and how they see the book. It's also nice to know that they have a different view on the book from the way I see the book. Its a great way to communitcate and share ideas.

Reflection

This epal liturature blog website is very it interesting. I enjoy this very much so. I believe that this is a benificial project for my classmates, myself as well as the other students from Brazil, China, and Italy. By doing this we learn so much about their culture and the way they live and how society takes apart into their lives. By responding to these prompts and reading what the other students have to say about them, we also get to know a little about their personality. Its very rewarding. And I do believe that we would learn a lot easier and faster about books by doing these book blogs. By doing so we keep it fresh in our minds, so it is easier to talk about it. And not so much have I learned more about technology, well me personaly, becuase these are things that I am used to and know how to do, by using other websites like yahoo and other blog pages. This is a fun thing to do with using the books, and I would like to be using this with other books that we read as a class or reading on our own.

I think that communicating

I think that communicating with students from other countries about the book we are reading is a fun way of sharing with one another. This activities is fun and it can help us remember what happen in the book. i think that because if we discuss it in class most student will fall asleep and discussing on the computer is something new to us. I think we would learn more about their countries because the book we have discuss with each other have a meaning to it and it has to do with society.

When I was done reading these books, I thought I was never going to have to think about it again. From this experience I think that the themes in these stories will stay in my mind forever. I enjoyed communicating with other countries to see what their views where about these stories. The collaboration with other students made me understand the meaning of the themes more. Overall, I think this is a good way to share your opinions about the book.

I feel like a learned a great deal using e-pals while reading a book. I have always wondered if people around the world read the same books as us and I have found that they do. This new technology could be the starting point of a world wide friendship. Also talking to other students around the world made the book more interesting i thought.

reflection

I have enjoyed this online blog page about books discussing these books with different people who have a totally different surrounding adds twists and turns in how they think the author of a book is trying to say something. I learned a lot about other countries such as how they see things and a little bit about how they think. I learned about the surroundings and how it affects the way they think about the book.
This was a great experience and I am glad I was able to do it.

Literature blog

Doing this internet blog page was a great way to keep me focused on reading. With the blog it helped me remember the book much more because of the interaction i was having with the other students and it made me realize that every society has these types of problems. It makes the assignment much more interesting its great.

Blog Experience!

I think this experience has been beneficial as compared to just discussing it in class because my classmates have been raised in a similar environment as one another and talking to people from other countries with erase cultural bias. This experience has globally expanded my perception. I definitely feel that I will remember this activity because how can you forget an experience like this? Additionally this has educated me not only on great literature, but it has educated me on technology.

The International blog has

The International blog has been a great experience. It has been an enjoyable way to to discuss the books. Communicating with other countries has opened my eyes. It was remarkable to know that we read the same books even though we are in different countries. Being able to see other students point of view on the books also helps to understand the concepts of each book a little easier.

This is awesome!

Honestly, I love this program. I have ever done anything like this in any of my classes. It brings new opportunities to me. Its cool to talk to people from other coutries because I dont have a chance to do that.

I have been enjoying this

I have been enjoying this online project a lot because it keeps me interested in who I am talking to and knowing that they're across the whole world is exciting. Talking to other students across the world keeps me interested in the bok even more and helps me remember what happen in the book because we are discussing the chapters within eachother and asking questoins about the conflicts. I hope to do every book online like this because its a great learning experience and helps our memory a lot.

This international blog

This international blog has turned out to be a great project for me and my class members. This blog pages has made it easy to talk to people in different countries about many different issues that we as people handle. I have found it to be very interesting to know how people handle these issues. It has showed me that we are all the same even though we all live in different places we still handle thing the same. I enjoyed this very much. Thanks

Literature Blog Experience

This online experince has great. I feel very special of being part of this; of being able to talk to students about the same books that I have read. This blog experience has been great. I'm glad that my teacher is willing to allow us to do this as part of her teaching.

My Reflection

The whole literature blog project has been a great experience for me. I feel that I have gained more knowledge and understanding from the literature blog then just reading the book in class. The blog has a lasing effect on me because we connect with different countries and share our thoughts on the topics related to the books. Reading about the various perspectives of other countries makes me gain recognition about my own and shows me how diverse the world really is. The literature blog is a great tool.

This literature blog has

This literature blog has been a very eductional and interesting experience. It actually made me excited to come to class. This has been beneficial because with this program one can view a variety of views all around the country. It is exciting to understand other people's views. (both alike and different) I have learned that no matter how far apart a person maybe, their thoughts and ideas may be very similar to ones own. "Great mines think alike." I do think that I will be ablt to remember these books better. I believe this bacause this is a memerable experience. Also my reviewing the books with another person causes the book to engrave into your brain. By interacting with other students online, it has taught me how to be more careful and to become more aware of what I write while using technology. I do feel like I learned more about other countries. By communicating to other countries, I learned different oppinions about literature. I hope this concept will catch on and other teachers do it for different classes. This helps students to become aware of different cultures. I want to give a big thank you to Mrs. Pauchnick because without her this blog would not have been created.

Pretty Good!

I think having this blog page that not only our class but other countries can join in and discuss books is great. This experience will help me remember the books we have read in class and help us meet other people from different countries and there ways of life, so e may see and compare to ours and how the world variates.

The International Literature

The International Literature connection is really amazing, it is not just a web blog where we can leave message to each other, but also a real “connection” between several different countries in the different parts of the world. In the contemporary world, it is really important to communicate with foreign students, not only for fun, it is for the future. The future world should have a condition of society in which numerous distinct ethnic, religious, or cultural groups coexist together. It requests us to learn about other countries. Also on the anther hand, we can make friends through the conversation, just image that, how fun it is to sitting in the classroom and talking with other people in different countries! Dayuan in San Diego, California, U.S.A

It was very positive

I really enjoy these international blogs. It is cool to be able to communicate with people in other countries and see how their society is compared to ours. It is also cool to see how alike we all really are, no matter what country we are from. This experience is more beneficial than just reading and discussing in class because everyone has the chance to explain our thoughts and it really makes us think more when talking to other people and comparing opinions. Yes I have learned more this way, such as really going in depth of my thoughts on these prompts and learning about other students in the world and their society. I don't think I will remember books better this way but I do believe I will remember the themes and thinking from these prompts better. It was helpful to really lay out my thoughts and find out who has the same ideas that I do. All in all it was very positive. Sean Plaisted San Diego, California, U.S.A.

Being a part of Ms.

Being a part of Ms. Pauchnick's Blog Page has been a much better experience than just reading a book quietly and answering boring questions about it. I was able to discuss different topics from the books we had read in class with other students from China, Brazil, and Italy. I prefer being able to connect with other people and talk about the book because each person I talked to had a different opinion and something new and interesting to say. It was very interactive and hands on. Also, since the other students were from various countries, I got to learn about their lifestyles and how view points on things like "the roles of men and women" are different there than in the United States. It is much more exciting to talk to a real, live person than it is to work by myself with a book and a pencil. The final bonus was that we got to use our class set of laptops to check our Blog Page frequently, as well as leave and receive new responses every day. -Summer D. San Diego, CA, United States

I have really enjoyed using

I have really enjoyed using this blog to communicate with students from foreign countries to discuss thoughts and reflections on books we read, and how they compare to our societies. The experience was much more rewarding than just answering questions in class because we got to compare our opinions to others from foreign countries, where their lives may be drastically different than ours because our communities are separated by thousands of miles.

Dear Mrs. Pauchnick. I like

Dear Mrs. Pauchnick. I like doing this better than only reading out of the books because personally I'm not a very strong reader and this project helped me understand the books better. And I think its cool how the people that I'm talking to in other countries are dealing with some of the things that we are dealing with here in America. It makes it easier to talk to them. Because there are things we can relate too. I think its pretty cool. Jenny T. San Diego, California

A good experience

Reading books and talking about them with students from other countries is a good experience for me. I get to interact with other students and learn how they felt about the book. I get to see if certain themes in the book happen in their countries. Just learning and getting to know a different point of view on what someone else thinks is great in leaning. Sara S. The Literature blog is a very helpful to me because it allows me to speak with other students. This expirience of sharing

This expirience of sharing the books we have read with other countries has been really interesting because we get to share the themes that the authors express within their books. I have learned a lot by reading about other students in other countries and how they still live nowadays as comparing their lives to the ones of the characters. I think I will remeber books better because I will remeber of the time when I got to interact with other students outside of our country such as the students from Italy and China. I think I have learned more about technology becuase this blog page is helping us discuss books with other students. Sadira Torralba San Diego, CA USA

I think that this experience

I think that this experience is good because we got to hear from different people in other countries. I did not think that students in other countries would read our books that we have written in our country. It is also interesting to hear what they have thought of our books. Carlo Martinez Period4 San Diego California

I believe that this

I believe that this experience has been educational. I have found it extremely interesting talking to people that live in other places in the world. The students that we have been talking to have to have different life experiences than us here in America, so they have different point of views than us and can enlighten us about what it is like to live in their countries and about how they interpret books. Amanda H Per.4 San Diego, CA

In our class we read the

In our class we read the books The Death of a Salesman, and A Streetcar Named Desire. We discussed the themes of the book on a blog page with people from other countries. Using the blog page helped us learn the themes and apply them to real life. It helps us understand why people relate to the book when it was first published. Discussing the book with people from other countries gives us a glimpse into other people's culture. We disused the themes and compared the realities of the book to nowadays lifestyles. Doing the blog helps me remember the book more than if I were to just read it. Julie Felios San Diego CA USA

This literature blogging

This literature blogging experience has been entertaining and rewarding at the same time. I find it amazing that these kind of program, just like many others allow people to communicate from across the world. I never imagines that I would be talking to someone from Italy or even China. Like I said before I also find it rewarding because I gain the opportunity to express my feelings and also listen to other peoples mind speaking. Claudia T. San Diego C.A United States

Reflection to Lit.blog

The International Literature Blog has been an awesome experience. Discussing different pieces of literature with other cultures all over the world has opened my horizons. I have become more knowledgeable on different topics that I was completely unaware of. Some critical issues that have been discussed are abuse, homosexuality, inequality and alcoholism. Comparing our modern day culture to others all over the world is extremely insightful because it shows a connection between society even all way on the other side of the globe! Epals has been a really fun way to become more familiar with different lifestyles and enlighten yourself with knowledge. Katherine Bourne San Diego, CA, USA

This blog has changed my

This blog has changed my life. I have gained knowledge ranging from the insight of others to knowledge of students lives around the world. I can gain understanding of how people live through a discussion of a joining topic such as a book. I have learned more about global problems such as alcoholism, relationship abuse and etc. I have also met people from around the world through a simple push of a button and view of the screen. I been very impressed with this blog and hope it has lots of success. Sean Mulderig, San Diego, CA, USA

Literature Blog :]

This has been a great experience, it's a nice change to the usual doings of reading and answering questions. We all dread the whole worksheet after every chapter task. This helps us become open minded to the outside world. We start relating to other countries and find out that we are not very different from each other. That we have similar situations and circumstances in our own countries. This way we understand the literature better through a great experience.

I really enjoyed working

I really enjoyed working with laptops and discussing various topics about the books we read in our English class. One thing I really enjoyed was getting responses from students in other countries. Using this site Candace Pauchnik developed, really inspired me to really get into the books. I still feel the same when it comes to technology but other than that, I really enjoyed using this site to interact with other people.

Reflection

This international literature blog has really expanded my horizons in terms of how much literature affects the world. I never thought about the books that we read being read in other countries and having influence over there. This blog has also showed me that feelings and emotions throughout the world can be mutual, as well as different, due to different cultures and lifestyles. It is great to see the similarities and differences that we all have as mankind, not just one nation.

Reflection

By using this blog I have gotten to learn more than I would've if I just learned in a only a classroom setting. I learned that people in other countries have similar ideas to those that we do, which is interesting since they live in other countries. I feel as if I have learned more than I would've since i was opened to more ideas. I also feel as if I will remember this more easy since I had the opportunity to read and reply to others so it's like remembering a conversation. The most interesting thing I learned is that other people in different countries aren't that much different than us.

lit blob experiance

This experience has been and eye opener , I really enjoy it. talking about your ideas and hearing other student around the world , what really is interesting is to talk to student who are reading the same book as you are but in different countries. this program made me remember the story better because when you talk to student opinion on the book, you rethink about the book and remember. it relay interesting because technology has come so far , this program make it seems like it a small world. i do feel that we have an understanding about other peoples culture, because not only we are learning from each other ideas and opinion we also learn from each other back ground and life style.
Janet Ta San Diego California

I really like and enjoy

I really like and enjoy this blog page. I love it!!!!!! Its fun when people from another country talk to you and have a conversation about a play that we have both read. This has given me the opportunity to learn about other cultures and also the way they view homosexuality, abuse and other topics shown in the play. This is so much fun that I'm very excited to continue working with people in other countries. Yadira T, San Diego, CA USA

It's beneficial because you

It's beneficial because you are able to learn other people's opinions that are in another part of the world. I don't really think that I've learned more, most of the opinions I had are the same as the opinions the students in Italy and China have. I think that we don't learn the books better, because we aren't discussing the books as much as we are discussing the controversial issues that are in the book. No, I don't think I learned more about technology, I was already aware of blogs, and it didn't teach me anything new. I don't think that I learned anything new about other people in other countries I knew that most people share the same views about the issues that we discussed in the blogs. Just because people are from another part of the world doesn't mean that their ideas, values, and morals are any different than ours. I think that overall this assignment was nice.
