Let the Discussions Begin!

We are looking forward to another exciting year of online discussions and collaborative writing about the Nutmeg nominees! The books are better than ever this year and we are wondering which ones will take the Award.

The wiki has several new activities this year! MyCharacterSpace provides characters who did not play a lead role in the books an opportunity to step up and explain their side of the story! MyCharacterSpace is a place for you to play the part of one of the characters from the story and create a profile of yourself. Who are your friends? What are your favorite things? What was a turning point in your life? What was your proudest moment?

Book Trailers are a fun way to persuade others to read your favorite book. You can make a book trailer using movie making software such a PhotoStory3, Movie Maker, or iMovie or use one of the many fun widgets online such as BubbleShare, Voki, or VoiceThread. We have a Book Trailer lesson that addresses language arts, 21st Century skills, and the NETS standards. We hope many students contribute book trailers this year!

Which book is in the lead so far? You can see which book are the favorites in our ongoing online polls. Of course students can vote more than once, but it will be fun to see which titles are coming our on top.
