Week of March 16

For some reason, the homework postings have not made it to the published blog for the past couple weeks, so here's another try!

Math: 4th-S.L. 8.8-8.9

Reading: Finish your BOM and do the summary page

Writing: No Word Work this week!

We are finishing CSAP this week, so the homework is minimal. Continue to get a good night's sleep and be ready for test days! 

 

Week of February 23

Math: Study Guides! Prepare for tests!

Writing: Study words. Use all 6 words in an essay on the provided paper.

              For Wed.: Find a lead you really like in a book. Bring the book to school.

Reading: 20 minutes each night. 

 

Week of February 17

Math: 5th-Study Links 7.4-7.6

          4th-Study Links 7.7-7.9

Reading: Read your BOM for 20 minutes each night

Writing: Study all 12 words from the previous 2 tests. Write a song or rap using 3 words from each list.

               Draw a series of at least five pictures to show the events in your fiction story. 

Week of February 9

Math: 5th-Study Links 7.1, 7.3-7.5

          4th-Study Links 7.2-7.5

Reading: Find a BOM and read for at least 20 minutes every night.

We are taking our Integrated Theme Test this week, so we do not have Word Work homework. 

Week of February 2

Math: 5th-Prepare for the Unit 6 Test

           4th-Study Links 7.1-7.4

Reading: Read for at least 20 minutes each night. Choose a non-fiction book for your BOM.

                 Complete the review packet for the Theme 4 Test.

Writing: Study the 6 new vocabulary words. Create 6 word creatures to show your understanding of the words. Color each one! 

Week of January 26

Math: Finish Unit 6 Study Links, Prepare for Unit 6 Test

          4th grade test: Thursday, January 29

          5th grade test: Wednesday, February 4 (This is a change)

Reading: Read for at least 20 minutes each night

                 Finish your Book of the Month and complete the project preparation

Writing: Study the 6 vocabulary words and create a comic strip or book using the words.

Week of January 20

Math: Study Links 6.5-6.8 (5th), 6.6-6.9 (4th)

Reading: Read for at least 20 minutes every night

Writing: Study all 12 words from the last two weeks.

Week of January 12

Math: Study Links 6.1-6.3

Reading: Read your B.O.M. for at least 20 minutes each night. Get a signature for each night.

Writing: Word Work: Study words. Write each word in a complete, meaningful sentence.

              Finish gathering stories for your essay. 

Week of January 5

Math: 5--Study Link 5.10, Study Guide

          4--Study Guide

Reading: Read your BOM for at least 20 minutes each night and get a signature.

Writing: Study your words and write each word in a sentence.

              Complete your School Reflection 

              Talk about your personal essay and get ideas from family members for mini-stories

Week of December 8

Math: 5--Study Links 5.4-5.7

          4--Study Links 5.6-5.9

Reading: Read for 15 minutes each night. The December/January BOM is a book that was written by an author whose book(s) you've read before. For 5th graders, the book must be at least 250 pages, and for 4th graders, it must be at least 200 pages.

We will be taking an Integrated Theme Test next Monday, so students should begin reviewing the concepts that we've studied in this Language Arts Unit. 

Week of December 1

Math: 5--Study Links 5.1-5.3

           4--Study Links 5.3-5.5

Reading: Turn in your B.O.M. form. Read 15 minutes each night.

Writing: Study all 12 words from the two most recent Word Work lists. 

Thanksgiving Break: I apologize for not posting the homework for last week. I hope that didn't cause any problems. Over break, please finish reading your Book of the Month! 

The Week of November 10

Math: Study Links 4.6-4.8 (5th Grade), Practice multiplication and division (4th Grade)

Reading: 15 minutes each night

Writing: Study the spelling, definition and use of our vocabulary words 

The Week of November 3

Math: Study Links 4.2-4.5

Reading: Read your Historical Fiction novel for 15 minutes each night (at least). We will have an Integrated Theme Test on Friday. Students may want to review plural nouns and possessives.

Writing: Review all 12 vocabulary words
