Courtyard Workday March 29th

March 29th;   The courtyard looked great right after a good rainfall that watered the plants that were added to the flower beds.

The weather was perfect for

The weather was perfect for this workday; cool and overcast. Kerri also scheduled it earlier in the day from 9 to noon which meant much cooler conditions for working on the side that is always so hot. We got a lot of weeding done around the cactus garden ( I got really scraped up by the plants I was working on). I went to Brooks Stone Ranch and got some professional landscaping cloth that has a 40 year life as opposed to the stuff you get at Home Depot that disintegrates after a few years. We got some of that down but need to get much more. Stacey Magnesio did a fantastic job on building up the rock edging around the cactus area. Shelly Pruitt brought in some nice native flowering plants for the butterfly garden and that area is really looking nice. We had several parents there that were new to the project and quite a few kids. We were able to remove a strip of the old barrier from the middle path that was covered with stone and weeds. It is going to take a monumental effort to remove the remainder of the old middle path and we are going to try to solicit some High School Students that need community service hours. We just need a day with a lot of people and wheel barrows to make it happen. The next workday will need to focus on that and laying down more weed barrier. Carrie Adams' dad, Val brought his tools and started making some lattice screens to hide the air conditioning units. The goal here is just to make it a little nicer to look at. What started out as a 9-noon workday actually ended up going past 4:00! Thanks to all that came out and helped!
