an online French lesson today

From 5:30 (11:30 in France)to 6:10 on October 8,Yaodong met Vincent and his class on Elluminate and Yaodong sat in Vincent's class for about 30 minutes,listening to Vincent teaching though Yaodong's French is practically nil. The kids were very attentive and active during the class.Yaodong saw them raising hands before answer the teacher's question.During class break, a few students were brave enough to ask Yaodong some questions about Liuzhou,about the most famous Chinese food,etc.Yaodong taught them how to say 'Good morning' in Chinese.In return, they taught Yaodong how to say 'Good day',"Good bye',etc in French. Then,Yaodong introduced Liuzhou to the French students by showinng a website of Liuzhou.

ePals held its first conference for tech directors and teachers on Tuesday, July 15, in Boston. Our one-day event is a preconference day to Alan November’s Building Learning Communities 2008 Conference.

ePALS Student Forum

New ePAL Connections....

Patrick Henry High School students are now getting ready to begin another international connection with students at Guangxi University of Technology in China. They may also participate in joining with students in other countries, too. Students will exchange emails each week and discuss a different cultural topic. General guidelines for discussion consist of the following topics:

* Traditional holidays and celebrations:
What types of holidays are celebrated and why? Compare which holidays are the same and how they celebrate them. How do people celebrate people's birthdays? What other information can be shared about traditions?

Email writing project 2006

Candy has 31 students from her grades 11 and 12 who have written to Yaodong's students in his Class051 of Grade 05. They will write on a weekly basis,discussing culture matter or school life.For Yaodong's students this is a very good experience for the them to practise English online and get to know the outside world.Candy's students are eager to know more about China and how her people live or how students in China spend their time both in and out of school.
