Interview with Cherie: Sky Diving Dare Devil..
Submitted by ladymaggie on Sun, 2008-04-06 06:37. PublicCherie Carter is a dare-devil of the skies. She has always loved speed and danger, and when she discovered Sky-diving, her life revolved around the sport.
Last year she jumped her 600th jump and she had just turned 60 years old, or is it 60 years young? Cherie will never grow old…she just does not have the time.

Easter in China 2008 and Easter in Australia in the past: Who Stole Easter 2008?
PublicWho Stole Easter 2008
I did not even know it was Easter. Someone online said they were going to Melbourne for the Easter break, and I asked if we were getting one too, and was told China does not celebrate Easter, so there was no holiday, so I lost Interest in Easter, as a holiday meant I could have traveled somewhere. On Friday evening I joined another International Friend for Dinner at the Sofitel Buffet. Now this was a very expensive Buffet featuring barbecued meats on skewers being brought to the tables. When this particularly delicious slab of barbecued beef came along, and I asked for 2 pieces, my friend bent over to tell me that it is 'Good Friday, and we shouldn't be eating meat.I have not eaten meat for a few months. I looked at her, thought 100 yuan and said, 'well, I have not eaten meat all year, and today I need to eat meat, so I am eating it," and proceeded to get my second slice of steak, and eat it delightedly. I looked across at Kim also getting a generous serving of meat, and said, 'You shouldn't be eating meat either."She hung her head for just a moment, and then went back to selecting more meat. All my life, and there has been a lot of it, I have never eaten meat on Good Friday. Always Fish on Good Friday, never meat, and Kim too is a strong catholic, and here we both are, sitting at one of the most expensive restaurants in Hefei, eating Meat, and more meat, on Good Friday. I hope the Angels don't get us for this sin, and as we both managed to get home safely, despite the heavy rain, I assume God has forgiven us for eating meat on Good Friday.Saturday passed uneventfully, and now it is Sunday. On the Internet, which appears to be my main line-out to the World, Sheila said she was cooking food for the family, and that as they were teenagers there would not be an egg hunt, and immediately I went back to the times when my children were small. I used to buy a huge bag of small chocolate eggs, and the night before Easter Sunday, I would hide the eggs all over the garden. The next morning, the children would hunt for them. Then my daughter started to become worldly and know things beyond her years. She came from school most indignant that she had been duped with this Easter Bunny stuff, and so that year I had her hide the eggs. The next morning, there she was directing her poor brother to find the eggs she had so carefully hidden. “Now go over there and look down...more...more...look harder…see there is an egg...." That Easter was fine. The next Easter my son started school, and he was devastated by the fact that there was no Easter Bunny. I found him lying on his bed looking at the ceiling, his hands behind his head. I knew something was terribly wrong.“What’s up son," I asked. "Nothing' was the short reply, and he was near to tears. Now I love my son very dearly. I sat by him, and gently said, “You know you can tell me about your problem."I waited for a while, and then suddenly he looked up at the sky and blurted out..." The kids at school say there is no Easter Bunny"End of the World! Even I was devastated by his distress.I decided to be honest as he always responded to fairness and honesty.“OK...it’s something parents do and it makes the kids happy, and it makes the parents happy. If you don't believe, then I miss out on some fun, and you miss out too. So what about letting me think you believe, and I not thinking you don't believe, and we can both have fun". That year both the children helped me hide the eggs and they got up just as excited as they went to find the eggs they had hidden. However, something happened...there were many more eggs than they had hidden, and I know my son knew that maybe there was an Easter Bunny around somewhere too.Ah!! The fantasy of Easter for childrenI love Easter. I love the Easter Hymns...The church was full of flowers and the special Easter Hymns are also a part of Easter. We ate hard boiled eggs for breakfast with milk rice, and had a special dinner with the whole family, and everybody gave everybody chocolate eggs. One Year I had enough money to buy the kids a huge rabbit each. My son kept his rabbit for a very long time. This is Easter...with Church, eggs and family. In China I sit here alone at the computer wondering who stole Easter. It seems to not be around this year.
