How can Schools, Colleges and Universities be a part of Environment Protection?

What role does Education play in promoting awareness, and how can it be made more effective?

What country would you like epals in?

I already write to friends in Australia, America, Germany, UK and Amsterdam.

I also have friends in Korea and China.

I would like to write to friends in South America and Africa, as I want to visit those places next, and also Canada.

Internationals V Hefei Students Soccer Match March 8th 2008 at Hefei China

On Monday Hefei University Students played a Soccer Match against Internationals, which are mainly teachers living and working in Hefei. It was great fun. I went and took the photographs and created a slideshow for everyone to enjoy.

It was the first game for the Chinese students and they really played well. There was a mixed group of players, some from the English Class, and some from the College  Soccer Team. Some of the Chinese students had to play in the International team to make up the numbers, and the chinese generously gave them their best players.

Some people think Chinese people are all very tiny, but with the modern generations it is not so. I am 5'9", and you can see that most of the boys are taller than their tall western teacher.

Map of Anhui Province showing where Hefei is located

Hefei is right in the centre of Anhui Province, and the most important city for many reasons. It is also the largest.

Students come from all the different regions of Anhui Province to study at hefei.

Ask the students where their home town is, how they travel to their hometown, the distance their hometown is from the College, and how often they see their parents.

You will see that China is very different in that the majority, all our students, live in Dormitories and only some get to visit their homes and families regularly.

Questions to ask the students.

Campus at Hefei: Mary and Linda: This is the Main Campus as viewed from the Front Entrance in He An Road. The dormitories are to the left and ahead, and the classrooms are to the far left and in front. We have a Library, Sports Arena where they have parades and play Soccer, basketball Courts and some Garden under construction. There is a cafeteria and a shop below the Cafeteria. Outside in the street there are many small shops, street vendors with food Stalls, and Internet cafes and serices required by students. The Campus also has Chinese Courses. The English College is part of the University, and linked to Australia and a part of IIBT. The students study English Fulltime for 20 hours, and they also study additional Chinese Courses. Some students will study up to 40 hours of classes a week. They work very hard and take their studies seriously. They will complete Homework and set tasks and attendance is very high at lectures. Interest in learning and getting a good mark is important, and the students are very focused. They do not have many hobbies or outside interests, as they do not have time for them as they see Education as being very important. They watch movies on Wednesdays and on their TV's and Computers, and they enjoy Computer Games and surfing the Net. The boys play Sport...Basketball and Soccer. Girls do not play as much sport as they try to keep out of the sun. Chinese culture favors white skin, and this is one reason why the girls do not play outdoor sports. The Campus is very small in China, and is a new Campus...still being developed and extended. There are approximately 5,000 students and 400 in the English College.
