JMSB Virtual Gallery of Art

The JMSB Virtual Gallery of Art features a variety of art works that were created by students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades at Jacksonville Middle School - Boys Campus. They are from a variety of projects that the boys have completed over the past school year. Our boys study different periods of art and art styles, and then create works of art to emulate those that we have studied. Speech /Drama Class Project Include Visits to Museums

The Jacksonville Middle School for Boys Speech/Drama class will begin working on a class project that surrounds the long struggle of the Little Rock Nine. Each student in the class will conduct a character analysis of a key person that impacted the Central High Crisis. Students will present their research during an exhibit titled, "Then and Now: In the Eyes of the Boys" on May 15, 2008. The class will take field trips to two museums. The purpose of the museum visits are for students to get an "up close and personal" perspective of the Civil Rights Movement. Funding for this project was provided from a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.

Mentoring Program Underway at JMSB

Our mentoring program features adult leaders from the business, social, and academic world. Our primary goal for this program is to create better citizens and responsible young adult leaders for our community. The secondary goal for students is to learn and exercise civic, social, and moral responsibility. This will encourage these young men to become partners in the growth and development of this community.
