PublicApril is School Library Media Month
April 13 - 19 is National Library Week
April 15 is National Library Workers Day
April 17 is Support Teen Literature Day
Many school library media programs celebrate the month of April as School Library Media Month in conjunction with National Library Week. National School Library Media Month and National Library Week are great times to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries, school libraries, and librarians. Celebrate this month (and every month!) by visiting your public or school library.
Speech /Drama Class Project Include Visits to Museums
PublicThe Jacksonville Middle School for Boys Speech/Drama class will begin working on a class project that surrounds the long struggle of the Little Rock Nine. Each student in the class will conduct a character analysis of a key person that impacted the Central High Crisis. Students will present their research during an exhibit titled, "Then and Now: In the Eyes of the Boys" on May 15, 2008. The class will take field trips to two museums. The purpose of the museum visits are for students to get an "up close and personal" perspective of the Civil Rights Movement. Funding for this project was provided from a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.

Mentoring Program Underway at JMSB
PublicOur mentoring program features adult leaders from the business, social, and academic world. Our primary goal for this program is to create better citizens and responsible young adult leaders for our community. The secondary goal for students is to learn and exercise civic, social, and moral responsibility. This will encourage these young men to become partners in the growth and development of this community.
